Exclusive Interview with Weider

"I am a very competitive person"
The Bikini Fitness athlete from Team Weider opens up and tells us about her beginnings in the world of competition and her goals in the Fitness world.
What is your competition category and your sports career?
I started competing 2 years ago in Bikini Fitness, a category where they look for physiques with aesthetic body lines and facial beauty. It is a display of a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition. Body proportion, tone and healthy appearance, facial beauty and details such as hairdressing, makeup, skin tone are valued… Strict definition is not allowed.

My sports career to date is:
– Madrid Champion in my height 2015
– Trillo Champion in my height 2015
– Cervantes Champion in my height 2015
– Silver Quamtrax Championship 2016
– Silver Francisco del Yerro Championship 2016
– Bronze Spanish Championship 2016
– Gold Diamond Cup Portugal, in the Bikini Wellness category 2017
– 7th place Olympia Amateur Marbella 2017
Why did you decide to start competing?
I decided to start competing because I am a very competitive person and I like to train to compete. I always did rhythmic gymnastics, but after my retirement, I spent almost two years without finding something that motivated me to compete again. Until I saw a Bikini Fitness competition for the first time. I loved this category because of the physiques I saw, so I set out to become a Bikini Fitness girl.
What do you like most about competing?
What I like most about competing is that thanks to it you are constant, disciplined, it makes you mentally strong and, above all, thanks to all that you end up achieving what you set out to do.
What are the differences between your off-season diet and during competition season?
The differences between my off-season diet and during competition season are small changes in food, supplements and habits that make my diet more manageable and keep me from getting saturated when it's time to buckle down.
For example, obviously macronutrients change and I give a little more priority to carbohydrates in my off-season diet: I add pasta, dairy, red meats and oily fish a little more often, some sweetener, soda, I have two free meals where I don't hold back when eating or having a sweet... But as you can see, these are small changes that allow my mind to disconnect and allow me to continue evolving.
What is your favorite cheat meal after the competition?
My favorite cheat meal is a hamburger or pizza if it's savory, and for dessert, Cola Cao and McFlurry.

What are the differences between your off-season training and during competition season?
My training has a total monthly and weekly periodization. In the off-season, we focus more on developing my strength, power, and muscle hypertrophy. As the competition season approaches, my training is more geared towards specific improvement of my most lagging muscles, which we observe as my body's fat and muscle composition changes. That's why I say that diet is 80% of every athlete's success.
Regarding cardio, I don't usually do more than one session a day for about 25 minutes a few months before competing, because we give more importance to nutrition.
What sports supplements do you use off-season and during competition season?
In terms of supplementation, we swap hydrolyzed or isolated proteins for whey or casein proteins, adding amylopectins, dextrins, fructoses...
Both in my off-season and pre-competition diet, I maintain essential amino acids and BCAAs, as well as glutamine and micronutrients. And I never miss my multivitamin at breakfast.
What is your favorite Weider product? Why?
The Day&Night chocolate casein, mixed with yogurt. I love it for its achieved flavor, and it helps me reduce anxiety.
What advice would you give to someone starting in the world of competition?
My advice is to put themselves in the hands of a professional and well-trained person who can guide their preparation. Don't obsess over the changes, those changes come little by little... but they always arrive if things are done well.
What sports supplements do you consider essential in a preparation?
The supplementation I consider essential is multivitamin, omega 3, BCAAs, glutamine, protein, and a good joint protector.
What is your next goal?
My next goal is the Arnold Classic 2017 in Barcelona in September, where I want to perform well and come out with an improved version of myself.
What would you like to say to your followers, taking this opportunity?
Tell them to always fight for what they like and want to achieve. That with perseverance, dedication, enthusiasm, and above all, always with humility, all those goals will eventually be achieved.
It's incredible to achieve those dreams you have in mind!
