It is quite likely, whether you are dedicated to endurance sports or you are a gym enthusiast, that you have consumed, or at least heard of, BCAA 8:1:1. In this article, I will summarize what these famous amino acids are and what they are used for.

BCAAs (Branched Chain Amino Acids) are essential. There are 3: Leucine, isoleucine, and valine, and they play a fundamental role in exercise as they have an energetic, recovery function, and also contribute to delaying fatigue in long-duration sports.

FUNCTIONS OF AMINO ACIDS

  • Leucine: is the amino acid with the most capacity to stimulate muscle protein synthesis, meaning it helps us prevent muscle mass loss in athletes on low-calorie diets (definition phase in aesthetic sports) or increase muscle mass during normal periods.
  • Isoleucine: this amino acid plays a regulatory role in glucose absorption by cells.
  • Valine: Participates in the formation of muscle tissue, but also in the synthesis of some endogenous opiates, protects the nervous system, and promotes sleep.

In this sense, the 8:1:1 ratio (8 leucine: 1 isoleucine: 1 valine) is the most favorable for obtaining all the benefits. Weider's BCAA 8:1:1 provides you with the key ratio. Furthermore, its amino acids are highly soluble in water, allowing for ultra-fast absorption, and they include the highest quality Kiowa® glutamine.

WHEN TO TAKE BCAA 8:1:1

Strength Sports

If your goal is muscle mass gain during a hypercaloric diet or maintaining muscle tissue during a hypocaloric diet, consume about 3.5 g of BCAAs during exercise and another 3.5 g with a carbohydrate source after finishing it.

Endurance Sports

Consume them during exercise by adding them to your sports drink during sessions longer than 2 and a half hours. Add 7g per liter of drink or consume 5g after exercise to optimize recovery.
