Weider interviews Roberto Remacho

I am passionate about my sport, training and eating well every day.

What is your competition category and your athletic career to date?

Well, I started in 2005 winning the Granada provincial championship in the Senior up to 80 kg category, also winning the overall and best poser awards. From there, I have won several overall Andalusian championships. I have been runner-up in Spain several times and, in turn, I have won several National Opens. My most recent competitions have been this same year, debuting as an international athlete and making several podium finishes in the Diamond Cup and finishing in the Olympia Amateur.

Why did you decide to start competing?

Honestly, I am passionate about my sport, training and eating well every day, so I decided to show people my work throughout the year and thus feel complete in what I was doing.

What do you like most about competing?

The process, the moment from when I start my preparation until the day I finish on stage. Every moment is very special and unique.

What are the differences between your off-season diet and your competition diet?

Well, basically I add some more foods like plant-based milk, fruit, red meat and some cereals. I also increase my carbohydrate intake and, for the rest, everything is very similar.

What is your favorite cheat meal after a competition?

A good plate of "papas a lo pobre" with eggs and chops (if they can be the ones my father cooks, which are incredible. Hehehe!)

What are the differences between your off-season training and your competition training?

Since for me there is no bulking or cutting phase, but rather we call it transformation, the training sessions are the same, only adding some cardio if necessary, and in the weeks leading up to the competition, it is true that I shorten them to three or four days a week since we have competitions on weekends.

What sports supplements do you use off-season and during competition season?

Basically the same, always varying quantities: BCAA's + glutamine, Premium Whey, L-Arginine, Krea-Genic + PTK and multivitamins.

What is your favorite Weider product? Why?

I really like all Weider supplements, but if I had to highlight one, I would choose Aminoblast Mega Forte. Incredible instant recovery! For me, this supplement is essential. I also like to treat myself to a healthy snack, with a 60% Protein Bar, it's a bar packed with protein and it's delicious!

What advice would you give to someone starting in the world of competition?

Basically, to enjoy what they are doing.

What sports supplements do you consider essential for preparation?

A good isolated protein and an anti-catabolic and recovery supplement such as BCAA's and glutamine.

What is your next goal?

What every athlete in this world I think, to win a European championship, a world championship and become a professional "a dream".

What would you like to say to your followers, taking advantage of this opportunity?

Well, if this sport truly resonates with them and their heart and mind are going in the same direction, they should fight to achieve their dream!
