Italian food lovers, rejoice!
Eating healthy doesn't mean you always have to eat boiled or grilled foods. There are many ways to make dishes like pizza or calzone a healthy and fit option.
At Weider, we've created this fit calzone recipe so that Italian food lovers don't have to give it up. The dough for our calzone is made from a blend of Mediterranean pizza-flavored oat flour, Weider's Gourmet Oat Flour, and whole wheat flour. Oat flour is increasingly used for its complex carbohydrates. It is also a good digestive and stabilizes blood glucose levels.
For the filling, we used Protein Tomato, Weider's protein tomato sauce, which is very easy to make. This sauce is high in protein, mainly pea protein. It is low in fat and a good source of fiber that complements the calzone. It's important that the tomato sauce is of good quality, as most of those found in supermarkets have excess sugars.
For the filling of this fit calzone, we used: mozzarella cheese (it wouldn't be a pizza without cheese), spinach as a source of fiber, and black olives as a source of healthy fats. These ingredients, along with the protein from Protein Tomato and egg whites, and the carbohydrates provided by the oat flour dough, make it a perfectly balanced meal.
You can play around with the filling ingredients, but choose wisely so as not to add excessive calories to your recipe, or it will no longer be "fit." For example, with cheese, try to use a low-fat cheese.

Below you will find the ingredients and step-by-step preparation method.
Ingredients for 4 Fit Calzones
For the dough:
- 100g Gourmet Oat Flour, Mediterranean pizza flavor
- 100g Whole Wheat Flour
- 6 Egg Whites
For the filling:
- 30g Protein Tomato Sauce
- 15g Yeast
- 80g Mozzarella
- 50g Black Olives
- 25g Spinach

Preparation
- Mix both types of flour with salt, yeast, and egg whites in a bowl. Beat and knead until a dough forms. Then let it rest.
- For the tomato sauce, mix 30g of Protein Tomato with 100ml of water and stir until it becomes a homogeneous sauce.
- Separately, chop the black olives and spinach and mix both ingredients with the mozzarella cheese.
- Return to the dough, and with the help of plastic wrap and a little oil, take balls of dough, flatten them with a rolling pin inside the plastic wrap so they don't stick, and then add the filling. First a spoonful of tomato, then the mixture of olives, cheese, and spinach. Finally, close the calzone. If you have doubts about this step, don't hesitate to watch the video.
- Bake the 4 calzones for 15 minutes at 180ºC.
